We only use ingredients that are free from gluten. In addition, we are extremely cautious that all ingredients are carefully sourced to come from facilities that do not process wheat or gluten, or have strict allergen protocols in place.
While we hope to have our own dedicated gluten free kitchen one day soon, we currently use a shared kitchen space that is not gluten free. However, we make our donuts on our own dedicated equipment and we only work in the kitchen when no one else is there.
We recognize that gluten particles can still live in the air for a short period of time, and everyone has their own individual standards for acceptability. So while we'd like to say definitively that we are safe for celiacs, we believe that you know what's best for your body and diet and recommend you make your own decision as to what is safe to consume.
We will never use meat or fish in our products, but we do use dairy and eggs. While we don’t currently offer donuts that are suitable for a vegan diet, we are actively in the test kitchen developing a delicious plant based donut recipe. Make sure to sign up for our mailing list and follow our socials so you can be one of the first to learn when they're ready for you to try!
NO! When we select ingredients we make sure there are absolutely NO genetically modified organisms.
Never peanuts! We'd also like to say we are free from tree nuts, but the FDA considers coconuts a tree nut, so we can't. However, coconut is a fruit and is not associated with other nut allergies, so we feel safe using it as an ingredient. BUT, we are free from all other nuts, AND, we do our best to source ingredients that are not just free from nuts, but ALSO do not process nuts, or who have strict allergen protocols in place.
While we hope to have our own dedicated gluten free peanut and nut free kitchen one day soon, we currently use a shared kitchen space that is NOT free from allergens. However, we make our donuts on our own dedicated equipment and we only work in the kitchen when no one else is there.
We recognize that everyone has their own individual standards for acceptability and tolerance levels. No one knows your body like you do, and so we recommend you make your own decision on what you feel is safe to consume. If you have a life threatening allergy you we do recommend that you proceed with caution.
We are free from 7 of the top 9 allergens. We don't use soy or sesame and abstain from using products that contain or are processed with soy and sesame, unless they have strict allergen protocols in place.
That's right, no wheat or gluten, no peanuts, no tree nuts* (*except for coconut), no soy, no sesame, no shellfish or fish of any kind (ew, who would want a fish donut anyway?!)
When we say all natural, we mean just that! We realize this term can sometimes be loaded, so let's break it down for you. If the ingredient is not derived from a natural source, or is highly processed, we aren't going to use it.
Yes, that means, absolutely NO artificial dyes!
We cherish the idea of community and support local and small businesses whenever possible.
We strive to source ingredients and do business with brands that our values align with. As a part of our sourcing process we look beyond the suitability of the product itself and it's price, and also try our best to evaluate company commitments and practices. We are still a young company with limited resources and therefore have not yet established a formal process, but intend to as we grow.
Certifications can be expensive, so we do not require that all companies we purchase from have them, but here are some of the ones we do take note of:
